Sean in 25 words or less: Content guy. Specializes in copy, PR, social media. Extensive association, aviation industry experience. Loves hockey (Bruins), Springsteen and whiskey (Irish). Can’t sing or dance. Dad.
The details: Sean Broderick has two decades of experience in marketing, public relations, and journalism, backed by an undergraduate degree in mass communication from James Madison University. He is scheduled to add a Master’s Degree in Integrated Marketing Communications from West Virginia University in 2012.
Broderick has spent the last nine years at a large aviation industry trade association, where he continues to serve in a part-time role as the primary external communications staffer. As vice president of external communications, his job duties included product marketing and overall branding, implementing and managing social media campaigns on Facebook and Twitter, serving as the primary media relations representative, and working closely with aviation industry stakeholders on numerous joint projects.
Before moving into a corporate communications role, Broderick spent 15 years as a journalist and entrepreneur, working aviation and pro hockey. His trade journalism work included time with McGraw-Hill’s Aviation Week Group, where he was part of the brand’s first online-only publishing effort, which evolved into AviationWeek.com. He continues to blog for Aviation Week.
In 1995, Broderick and a partner launched one of the first all-electronic hockey publications, The Pro Hockey EuroReport. Serving as managing editor, Broderick helped build the publication into a globally recognized brand that forged close working relationships and content-sharing agreements with the National Hockey League (NHL), the International Ice Hockey Federation, and AOL, among others. EuroReport journalists soon became regular press-box fixtures at signature events including The World Cup of Hockey, the NHL Stanley Cup Playoffs and All-Star Game, and the IIHF World Championships, helping pave the way for current-day bloggers and online-only reporters.
Broderick currently serves as a board member and Promotions Committee Chair for The Partnership for Warrenton Foundation.
